Chapter Books for Kindergarten

Whether you read these books to your kids, or they read them to you, they will eat them up! These are the books series my children could not put down during kindergarten and even into first grade. Some of these series like Ballet Cat and Elephant and Piggie are great for new readers to attempt independently while Nancy Drew and A-Z Mysteries are fun to read with parents or as a group in class. These books are fun and my daughter never let me read only a few chapters, so make sure you have time to read the whole book if you start. He was in 2nd grade at the time; the books are perfect for the kindergarten — 3rd-grade readers. My son has read so many of these books and my daughter started reading them with my husband or me this year too. They are filled with smart kind main characters, and fun mysteries too.

Early chapter books are a great way to help your child transition from shorter books to slightly longer ones with more complicated plots.
