Teach students to see history and geography through the lens of Christianity with this optimistic, conservative history curriculum. Students will follow the history and geography of North and South America from the First Nations peoples through the 21st century. This sixth grade curriculum covers the Canadian provinces, United States geography and cultures by region, US history in chronological order, and the history and geography of Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. Lessons feature a number of full-color photographs and art reproductions, bolded vocabulary words, underlined important concepts, and integrated geography concepts throughout; "Comprehension Check" activities are also included. Important historical documents are highlighted. We offer thousands of quality curricula, workbooks, and references to meet your homeschooling needs. This very brief overview of the United States and the world is patriotic and upbeat. It offers tidbits about famous people and places including the fable about George Washington and the cherry tree. The only way I recommend this book to you is if you purchase the teacher edition. The last half of that edition is the student text, so you need not purchase a separate student book. The first half of the teacher edition fleshes out and enlivens lessons with lesson plans that include reading comprehension, vocabulary, geography, and writing activities; additional background information; and other enrichment activities. Of course, this requires teacher presentation, but it should require minimal preparation time. This textbook provides an introduction to our country's history.
