EBMA - EBMA Annual MeetingWhen she accepted the award last week at the conference, Kate spoke about her work and what it was like to be a fearful introverted child. I think our job is to see and to let ourselves be seen. I think our job is to love the world. How honest should we be with our readers? Is the job of the writer for the very young to tell the truth or preserve innocence?

The association holds an annual meeting that is educational in nature with sessions intended for both wholesalers and publishers members. During the three days of these meetings, each wholesaler in attendance will meet with each publisher and vice versa for private eight-minute discussions. Presentations from industry professionals, educators and authors inform members on new trends in our market. Social events are planned to bring wholesalers and publishers together in informal settings. Each year the annual meeting is held in a location that allows for a relaxed atmosphere and promotes networking and learning. For questions, please contact Maureen Gelwicks, info edupaperback.

EBMA, formerly known as the Educational Paperback Association, or EPA, was founded in , most specifically to encourage the use of paperback books in classrooms from preschool to college and in school and public libraries. Today our members continue to be at the forefront of innovation in the classroom as new media are being introduced. Founded by Jeremiah Ludington of Ludington News Company in Detroit, Michigan, EBMA is committed to developing better techniques and procedures for the sales, marketing, and distribution of paperback books, prebound books and related media in the school and library markets. Our wholesaler members offer schools and libraries volume discounts on a wide selection of titles, representing the major publishers and important small presses that publish for the educational market. The Association holds an annual meeting for both wholesalers and publishers in January that is educational in nature. The Jeremiah Ludington Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the paperback book business.
